Bengals Acquire Veteran Quarterback Joe Flacco From Browns

In a strategic move to bolster their quarterback depth, the Cincinnati Bengals have acquired veteran quarterback Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns. The trade, which is pending a physical examination, also includes a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, with the Bengals sending a fifth-round pick to the Browns in return.

This acquisition comes after the Bengals' backup quarterback, Jake Browning, struggled in recent games, contributing to a three-game losing streak. Browning has thrown six touchdowns and eight interceptions this season, highlighting the need for experienced leadership in the quarterback position. Flacco, 40, brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played for multiple NFL franchises, including the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and most recently, the Cleveland Browns. He is best known for being named Super Bowl MVP in 2012.

Flacco's tenure with the Browns was brief; he lost his starting position to rookie Dillon Gabriel. During his time in Cleveland, Flacco completed 58.1% of his passes for 815 yards, recording two touchdowns and six interceptions. His arrival in Cincinnati is expected to provide valuable mentorship to the team's quarterbacks and add depth to the roster as they aim to improve their performance in the coming weeks.

The Bengals' decision to acquire Flacco also reflects a broader trend in the NFL, where teams are seeking experienced quarterbacks to navigate the challenges of the season. With the trade now official, Flacco is set to join the Bengals' roster, bringing his extensive experience and leadership to the team.

As the Bengals prepare for their upcoming games, the addition of Flacco is anticipated to have a significant impact on the team's dynamics. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how his presence will influence the Bengals' offensive strategies and overall performance in the weeks ahead.
